Seeing Tulka sleeping got me thinking that she needs a woodpecker companion animal. Razz

Also, would you believe I actually had my players face off Dire Beavers in a campaign? Yepyep! Sure, it was incredibly silly, and I loved it for it, but it also made sense. Real beavers can be fierce bastards, and prehistoric beavers were the size of a lion. Also, I made them swamp dwellers with a hive mentality. There were lurker beavers, and soldier beavers, and the queen bee-aver, who would drum her tail against the water for area effects upon her followers. They built lodges that looked like crumbling buildings from a distance, and during the night they would light up with will-of-the-wisps which would complete the illusion. A bunch of adventurers in canoes would row towards the 'swamp town', expecting to run into the fabled swamp elves (a careful blend of rednecks/hippies/supermodels), and instead would find the city lights fly off, and themselves surrounded by a swarm of angry dire beavers attacking their canoes!

I just tried to picture poor Tulka facing off against a hungry dire beaver.

That's really creative, Mambele! Never really thought of beavers like that. Would definitely have been interesting!

Hehe can he look like this guy? http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/ifwis/ibt/userfiles/image/photos/800/downy-woodpecker-on-tree--terry-gray.jpg

As long as it's not a Dire Woodpecker.

That's it. You're facing ten Werepeckers in the next encounter.

Great. Now I'm picturing the silhouette of a werepecker against the full moon, howling. Only replace 'howling' with 'high pitched speeded-up cartoon laugh'.

LMFAO Bring them on! I'll tear them in half like I'm tearing a spellbook in half like a phone book!
